Some information about homework in Team 15.
Homework is issued every Monday on the odd weeks of the term - Week 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
Homework books will come home with the date it is due back, a basic facts ladder stage, some spelling words and a reading log. If your child is away on the day homework is issued, he or she needs to come and see me to grab some spelling words and a basic facts sheet.
Basic Facts
It is important for students to be able to quickly recall their basic facts. Students can use the basic facts website to find examples and websites to help them practise. If you feel your child has mastered a particular basic facts rung, move them on to a more appropriate one.
Spelling
The spelling words that come home are grouped so students can learn certain sounds or rules. These rules will help your children become good spellers and spell many more words than just the ones that come home. Make sure you talk to them about the rules and spelling patterns that they are working on.
Reading
Reading is essential for student success. Your child should be reading every day, however, I am not too worried if they do not fill in the reading log. This can be optional.
